Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the HALO Directory website and directory ("HALO", "we", "us"). By creating an account, searching the directory or submitting a listing, you agree to these Terms. Every account holder must explicitly accept these Terms when creating an account, whether they are looking for a provider or offering a service. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

1. Who we are

HALO Directory is a UK directory of care providers across eight categories: Child Care, Animal Care, House Care, Self Care, Elder Care, Transport Care, Student Care and Event Care. We are not an employment agency, we do not employ providers listed on the site, and we are not a party to any care arrangement.

HALO Directory is a directory only. We do not match, recommend, rank, select or introduce providers, and we do not route enquiries or decide who contacts whom. You choose which providers to contact, and any arrangement is made directly between you and the provider. HALO is not a party to it.

2. People looking for a provider

  • You need a free account and must be signed in to search the directory and view provider profiles.
  • To contact a provider, use the contact details on their profile. HALO does not pass on messages, and any contact or arrangement is directly between you and the provider.
  • You are responsible for carrying out your own due diligence before entering into any care arrangement, including verifying qualifications, references and insurance.
  • You must not use the directory to harass, defraud, or send unsolicited marketing to providers.

3. Provider accounts and listings

  • You must be at least 18 years old and legally entitled to provide the service you list in the UK.
  • Your listing must include a photo or logo.
  • Every listing is checked before it goes live to confirm it meets these Terms. This check is not an endorsement of you or your service. We may decline, edit or remove any listing at our discretion.
  • You warrant that all information you submit — including relevant qualifications, registration, insurance and personal answers — is accurate, current, and truthful. Misrepresentation is grounds for immediate removal.
  • You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for all activity under your account.

4. Fees and subscriptions

Creating a listing requires an active HALO subscription. New subscribers get the first 3 months free; after that the subscription is £6.99/month, billed through our payment processor (Stripe). Card details are taken by Stripe when you join. There is one price for everyone, with no tiers or rankings.

  • Your listing is only shown while your subscription is active (a free trial counts). If your subscription ends, your listing is hidden automatically, and shown again if you restart it.
  • Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled from your billing page.
  • You may cancel at any time. Cancellation stops future billing; we do not refund the current billing period unless required by law.
  • Existing subscribers keep their current price unless we give at least 30 days' notice of a change before their next renewal.

5. Acceptable use

You may not use the service to publish content that is unlawful, misleading, defamatory, discriminatory, or that infringes anyone's rights. You may not scrape the directory, attempt to bypass access controls, or use HALO data to build a competing product.

6. Content you provide

You keep ownership of the content you submit (listing text, photos, answers). By submitting it, you grant HALO a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to display, format, and distribute that content for the purpose of operating and promoting the directory. You confirm you have the right to grant that licence.

7. Listing checks and moderation

We check new listings against these Terms, respond to reports, and may suspend or remove accounts that breach these Terms or where we have reasonable safety concerns. This check is not a regulatory approval, background check, endorsement or guarantee of a provider's suitability.

8. Disclaimers

The service is provided "as is". HALO does not guarantee that any provider will be available, appropriate for your needs, or free from fault. We are not responsible for the acts or omissions of providers or other users using the directory. To the fullest extent permitted by law, HALO excludes all implied warranties.

9. Limitation of liability

Nothing in these Terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded. Subject to that, HALO's total liability to you arising out of or in connection with the service is limited to the greater of (a) the fees you paid us in the 12 months before the claim and (b) £100.

10. Termination

You may stop using the service at any time and ask us to delete your account by emailing hello@halodirectory.co.uk. We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these Terms, if we're required to by law, or if we decide to discontinue the service. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination will do so.

11. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If changes are material, we will notify registered users by email or through the site before they take effect. Continued use after the effective date means you accept the updated Terms.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of or in connection with them.
